Service for International Journalists

Independent Journalists Association of Serbia (IJAS) has established the Service for International Journalists (Press Service) as a bureau offering services and assistance to those reporting from Serbia and the region. Our wide range of services includes assistance in obtaining information on a given area/issue, providing accommodation, and providing technical assistance necessary for reporting (identifying interlocutors, audio and video recording, editing, mobile internet, media archive...).

What makes our Service distinct and unique in this region is a network of journalists specialized in different areas that is at our international colleagues’ disposal when it comes to offering information on a given area, providing contacts (interlocutors), access to local data bases etc.

More specific services of the Service are:

  1. Providing stringers, local journalists who would be helping their international colleagues obtain information on their chosen area of interest by providing background information (statistics, texts by local journalists who have written on similar topics, access to local data bases), and providing suitable interlocutors (scheduling of interviews, scheduling of meetings with officials and regional colleagues).
  2. Translation and interpretation services offered by our network’s translators under special rates.
  3. Providing accommodation and transportation. We have established cooperation with Mirros agency from Belgrade with more then years of experience in that area.
  4. Organized travel in Serbia and the region
  5. Newsroom – The Service has a computer room with internet and telephone with a possibility of using media archive.
  6. Providing photographers and camerapersons on the field (cooperation with photo services of news agencies)
  7. Providing a fast link for sending video material (cooperation with the RTS which has this service)
  8. Writing articles or making TV and rwdio reports on specific topic for international journals, radio and TV stations.

Time is a very important parameter for the media and, unfortunately, more and more so is the shortage of money due to the economic crisis we live in. The idea is that Service can save both time and money to all interested media and institutions.
